Track Day: Grobnik 2019/5

Grobnik - wet session

Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side for this session. We’ve had some dry minutes, but also pouring rain which meant that the track was wet the whole time.

The new tires I fitted for this season, the Cup 2, definitely do not feel at home on the wet. I’ve had to catch the car at least three times and had no chance of keeping up with FWD Type-R Civics which are usually clocking around the same time.

Here’s one of those saves:

I’ve also had a nice save on the same corner as I spun last year. Unfortunately, the camera was not working for that lap. 🙁 On the topic of that corner, I might want to start looking at a different lane since the car gets really unbalanced and, being RWD, really wants to oversteer.

Best lap of the day was 1:57.18 which is nothing to write home about, even for a wet lap.

All in all, a fun session in the wet, though I don’t think I’ll be repeating it soon – at least not on these tires.
